How do you Give to Your Community?
Installment #3
Have you ever wondered how you can give back to your community? The previous installment was about Freshman Robert Greer and how and why he helps his community.
This installment will be about Freshman Nishal Dahal.
How do you help your community?
I often go to my middle school and help tutor people there. I also like to take place in numerous cultural events for my community. I am also willing to help my friends with lost of things, academically or otherwise.
Why do you enjoy this community enough to put time into it?
I have been given lots of opportunities in my life, and I believe that everyone deserves the same opportunities. I want to give people a sense of belonging and hope that everyone, including myself, can be themselves without judgment.
What do you want to help your community become in the future?
Like I said previously, I want to help make a community that cherishes people for who they are. The experiences that come with this belonging should last a long time, maybe even a lifetime. AEC does lots of good things to help students feel belonging, and I want to help others feel that way as well.
When do you do these things, and when do you find ample time for them?
I tend to use my free time to help out. It especially helps me to not be on my phone too much. I am also willing to give time in general, and my family often helps people with a whole bunch of things regardless of what they are.
Where can you find places like these to help?
The biggest thing is to ask for opportunities. There’s a chain reaction of asking what you can do and helping, it encourages others to help as well. At that point, you’ll be golden if you put in the effort and follow through.
