The National Honor Society Induction Ceremony is held annually to formally recognize and welcome the new inductees to the Akron Early College NHS Chapter. The ceremony opens with the speakers including this year’s guest speaker Simara Vines, a 2022 graduate of Akron Early College. After Simara delivered her wonderful speech to the audience, the current officers (President: Min Aung, Vice President: Alba Masterottato, Secretary: Nia Worthy, Treasurer: Dejhay Sellers, Parliamentarian: Shelby Welker, and Historian: Shakila Kerung) were called to the stage to pass the torch to the new selected NHS officers for the 2025-2026 school year. President: Jacob Albertson, Vice President: Phill Do, Secretary: Londyn Garden, Treasurer: Sawan Subba, Parliamentarian: Angel Johnson, and Historian: Iris Phavixay. Congratulations!

Next, four current members of the NHS gave short speeches about one of the four pillars of the NHS; scholarship, service, leadership, and character. Lastly, what the parents in the audience have all been waiting for, the new inductees were called to the stage to be recognized individually. This year, there were 28 newly inducted members. As each inductee walks across the stage, they sign their name into the NHS booklet to swear to uphold the standards of the NHS. They light their candle, and shake hands with Simara Vines, Mr. Tom O’Neil, and Mrs. Keaton. And lastly, Mrs. Berger hands each inductee their certificate and NHS member card. One family member per inductee is invited to pin their student with the NHS pin. Ceremony concluded with refreshments and cookies.
