SUPER STORY LINES

Travis McCown, AEC News Staff

Super Bowl LVII is coming up this weekend in Phoenix Arizona. The Kansas City Chiefs will face off against the Philadelphia Eagles this Sunday, February 12. The two most interesting storylines are focused on a pair of brothers from Cleveland and a coach who has been on the sidelines for both teams.

Travis and Jason Kelce are the first brothers to ever face each other in the Super Bowl. They are both natives of Westlake Ohio, just west of Cleveland, and graduates of Cleveland Heights High School. Jason the older of the two graduated in 2006 and went on to start at the University of Cincinnati. Younger brother Travis graduated from Cleveland Heights two years later, in 2008, and followed his brother to UC.

Jason has since established himself as a Pro Bowl center while Travis has become the game's top Tight End.

Kansas City Chiefs head coach Andy Reid returns to the super Bowl as Chiefs head man. He is the fifth coach in NFL history to face his former team in the Championship game. Reid led Philadelphia for 14 seasons to 130 wins and a Super Bowl appearance in 2004. He lost to the Patriots in that Super Bowl. He eventually was fired in Philly. He did stay unemployed long as Kansas City snatched him up. He has led the Chiefs for the past two seasons. He has taken the Chiefs to two Super Bowls, winning in 2020 against the 49ers. He returned to the Super Bowl the following year, but lost to the Tom Brady-led Buccaneers.

Whether you see this as the Kelce Bowl or The Andy Reid Bowl, this weekend’s Championship should be a great game.
