Talk To Me Movie Review

By LaTora Harrison, lh165@uakron.edu

Talk to Me is a frightening, polished, and eccentrically constructed movie to say the least as this movie takes an innovative route to tell a tale about grief and loneliness and how it can consume someone. Talk to Me was released July 23,2023 and in the opening weekend it made $10.4 million which is well deserved in my opinion as the movie has good rhythm throughout and amazing visual work. Talk to Me is about a group of teenagers discovering how to conjure spirits through an embalmed hand. They open the gate by lighting a candle and saying “talk to me” which lets the spirit in and closes the gate by blowing out the candle and letting go of the hand. What could go wrong, right? Well it turns out a lot. It leads them down a path of bad events that no one wants to be a part of. I personally would rate this movie a 7.1/10. If you like gore this movie is right for you as it has multiple scenes that were very gory in my opinion. Gore is just not up my alley which is why I rated this movie a 7.1/10. It is still rated on the higher end of the scale because it keeps a good pace. You will not find yourself listening to 30 minute dialogue waiting to get to the interesting parts like The Nun. Talk to Me was also interesting all the way through, keeping a good flow throughout the movie which made it an easy and enjoyable watch. The film is also on the higher end of the scale because it gives you a perspective of grief through a different lens. There is not much else I can say about this topic without spoiling the movie so I suggest just watching the movie yourself. I would definitely recommend this movie to many, especially the ones that like a little bit of gore thrown in with a taste of psychological horror. If you have watched films like: prey for the devil, the boogeyman, and the offering I believe you will also enjoy this film.
