When I first saw The Strays come up on my Netflix recommendation I didn't know what to expect. I dove into the movie completely blind and I was not disappointed at all. I think one of the most common themes was abandonment. It happened often and in different ways throughout the film and could be considered one of the main themes. Other themes were family, identity and acceptance…or rejection depending on the character. I knew from the beginning that I would like the movie, but I didn't expect to like it as much as I did. Some parts were predictable while others weren’t, giving the viewer an idea of who a character was and how they’d react in a certain situation while surprising viewers in later scenes. There was a lot of tension created between some of the characters that would only be understood later on as you continued to watch. I like that there was a difference shown in the reactions when it came to the children and their parents. It really showed the difference in their upbringing and the privileges given to one pair of siblings when compared to the other. I hope they make another movie to add more to the storyline because the end will most definitely leave you with a lot of questions.
